The tale of Jiang Ziya has the old counselor 钓鱼 by the Wei River with a straight, bare hook, saying only the willing will bite, until King Wen came and took him to rule. The 垂钓 was patience as a politics, the line cast without bait. From that riverside the character kept the quiet of a man who waits for the right ruler rather than the ready fish.
