Cultural Story
When the First Emperor unified China in 221 BCE he decreed that carts should share one gauge — 车同轨 — so a wheel's rut in Qin would fit the road in Chu. The character 车 is itself a picture of a war cart, the box, the two wheels, the yoke. The terracotta army at Xi'an still stands guard with its chariots, the oldest proof of how the character was drawn from life.

Read the story behind the character
At the station a 火车 pulls in and passengers find their 车厢 by the number on the board. A family loads the 汽车 into the 车库 for the night; a commuter folds the 自行车 and carries it up the 车站 stairs. 车辆 of every size fill the ring road at dusk. The picture that was once a royal war cart now names the everyday machine a city cannot run a single hour without.
Why this character belongs on skin
车 is the cart, the chariot, the wheeled thing that carried empires and harvests alike. Two thousand years ago its form showed the axle and the turning wheels — technology as old as civilization's first great leap. To carry 车 is to honor momentum, the journey over the destination, the faith that the road will hold. The warrior rode 车 into battle; the farmer rode it home with grain. Both knew the same truth: you are moving, and movement is its own answer. Life offers no standing still, only the choice of what pulls you. Wear it as a talisman of forward motion, the refusal to rust in place. Let it roll beneath your skin like a wheel that will not stop. The mark says simply: I am in transit, and the dust behind me is proof I was carried by something larger than my own two feet.
