鳞 · Cheng Miao
鳞 (lín, 2nd tone; traditional 鱗) is armour that grew on a living thing. The Shuowen Jiezi, scroll 11: 鱗，魚甲也。从魚粦聲 — ‘the mail-plate of a fish; the fish radical with 粦 as phonetic.’ Duan Yucai is blunt about the metaphor: 甲者，鎧也。魚鱗似鎧, ‘jiǎ mea $9.00 – Purchase Checkout Added to cart
