沿 · Yan Zhenqing
Yán (2nd tone). The Shuowen Jiezi defines it as 「緣水而下也。从水㕣聲」 — ‘to go downstream along the water’, a phono-semantic compound of 水 with 㕣 (yǎn) as the phonetic. 《書·禹貢》 is the classical citation and it is exact: 「沿于江海，達于淮泗」, with Kong’s comme $9.00 – Purchase Checkout Added to cart
