Why this character belongs on skin
A bird released from the hand — that is the oldest picture, the moment of lift, the body unmade of weight. 飞 is the verb of escape and arrival at once, the Daoist dream of the spirit loosed from the mud of the world. To fly is not to abandon the earth but to learn its true dimension, the height from which even sorrow looks small and arranged. Wear it where movement lives in you — the chest that rises, the feet that left — and let it mean the part of your life that refused to be grounded. We spend our days earthbound by duty and fear; the character is the permission slip. You have known the lift, if only in dreams, and the dream was a kind of truth. 飞 is the body's vow to rise again, toward the open, toward the light, toward the silence above the noise.
