Terms of Service
Terms of Service
By accessing handmade.ink and purchasing our products, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
1. Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
2. Products & license
We sell digital calligraphy glyph files, delivered in three variants: Original (clean vector with the handmade.ink mark), Production (with an orientation guide), and Transfer paper (mirrored for heat-transfer / template printing). You are purchasing a license to use the files, not ownership of the artwork.
You may:
- Tattoo the artwork on yourself or, if you are a professional tattoo artist, on your clients — unlimited client tattoos.
- Prepare stencils and transfers; photograph the finished tattoo; display the completed work in your portfolio and on social media.
- Create up to 500 physical end products (such as apparel, prints, cultural-creative goods, and publishing) that incorporate the glyph into a larger original design of your own. For volumes above 500 units per glyph, or for print-on-demand distribution, an Extended License is required (contact support).
- Provide the files to your production vendors (print, embroidery or similar shops) solely to manufacture your end products, provided they are bound by confidentiality and receive no independent right to use the files.
You may not:
- Resell, sublicense, share or redistribute the digital files themselves, or offer the glyph as a standalone design, flash sheet or clip-art asset.
- Upload the files to print-on-demand platforms, or use them in NFTs or for AI/machine-learning model training, without an Extended License.
- Claim authorship of the calligraphy; register the glyphs or their derivatives as trademarks or copyrights.
- Use the artwork for unlawful, defamatory, or infringing purposes.
- Remove, obscure, or attempt to decode any embedded identifier (including the certificate number watermark) in the delivered files.
This license is granted per glyph purchased, and is non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide and non-transferable. The Commercial License Certificate issued with your order is the record of this license — keep it for your records. All other terms of this agreement remain unchanged.
3. Pricing & payment
Prices are shown at checkout and processed securely by our payment partner Creem. Taxes may apply depending on your location.
4. Refund policy
All sales are final. We do not offer refunds except in one case: the supplied meaning of a character is wrong — that is, the explanation, meaning, pronunciation guidance, or usage note we provided for that single character is incorrect. Refund requests must be sent to support@handmade.ink with your order reference and a description of the error. We will verify the claim and, if valid, issue a refund. No refunds are given for change of mind, accidental purchase, file-compatibility issues, or any other reason.
5. Subscription / membership cancellation
If you subscribe to a recurring membership, you may cancel at any time from your account (My Glyphs) or by emailing support@handmade.ink. Cancellation stops future billing at the end of the current paid period. Files already downloaded remain licensed to you under section 2. Unless required by law, we do not provide prorated refunds for the current period.
6. User rights & responsibilities
You are responsible for using the products lawfully and for ensuring your use does not infringe third-party rights. You retain all rights to designs you create that incorporate our glyphs. You grant us no rights over your creations. We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service, infringe these terms, or engage in fraud.
7. Intellectual property
All calligraphy artwork, marks, and site content are © handmade.ink unless stated otherwise. Trademarks and brand names remain the property of their owners.
8. Disclaimer & liability
The products are provided “as is” without warranty. To the maximum extent permitted by law, handmade.ink is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the site or products.
9. Calligrapher attribution
Because individual characters can closely resemble one another across different masters and historical periods, because the authorship of many surviving works from antiquity remains a matter of scholarly debate, and because the public reference sources we consult may themselves contain errors, any calligrapher name or attribution we provide for a glyph is offered for general reference only. We make no warranty, and cannot definitively confirm, that a given glyph is the work of the calligrapher with whom it is associated. You should therefore cite calligrapher information with appropriate caution. If you believe an attribution is incorrect, we welcome your correction at support@handmade.ink.
10. Changes to these terms
We may modify these Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
