Cultural Story
Mencius tells how, when the sage-king Yao died, the people did not sing the praises of his son but ou ge, sang for, Shun instead, a whole realm voting with its voice. The character ou is song itself, the praise carried on the breath of commoners. To ou was the people's verdict without a ballot, the tune that crowned or buried a ruler. It is the oldest poll we have, counted in lines of folk song rather than marks on a stone.

Read the story behind the character
A brand names itself ou ge, 'to sing praises', the Chinese word for Acura; an elder ou yin, chants, an old ballad; a village keeps a min ou, a folk song, of its founding. The character lives in song and praise alike, the jingle, the anthem, the tribute. It names the moment admiration finds its tune, the human instinct to carry a good name on the voice rather than merely write it, to make approval something you can hear from down the lane.
Why this character belongs on skin
讴 is language that has learned to fly—the speech radical carrying a syllable that soars, meaning to sing out, to chant praise, 讴歌, to hymn something loudly enough that the air in the room changes. Ancient folk sang 讴 in the fields and on the boats, unaccompanied and unashamed, because praise was simply what mouths did when the work was shared. Understand that praise is not flattery. It is a discipline of attention—the practiced ability to see what is genuinely good and then refuse silence about it. The Psalms knew this and became literature's loudest proof; so did the farmers, who sang the harvest before tasting it. Most of what deserves singing goes unsung, taken for granted into the grave. Be the exception. Be the one who names the good out loud, at volume, while it can still hear it. Put a song radical on your skin and let it be heard.
