Hù (4th tone). The Shuowen Jiezi as Xu Shen wrote it did not contain 笏 — it is one of the 新附 characters added by 徐鉉, who enters it as 「笏，公及士所搢也。从竹勿聲」 (‘the tablet that dukes and officers tuck at the girdle’) and adds a note that matters: 「籒 $9.00 – Purchase Checkout Added to cart
