Cultural Story
廊 is the roofed walk that joins the rooms without asking you to meet the weather. The 長廊 at 頤和園 runs seven hundred meters painted with scenes from 西遊記, so a stroll becomes a scroll you walk inside. The corridor was a gallery long before the word meant one.

Read the story behind the character
走廊 is the linoleum track between offices where deals die, 画廊 the white room selling a single canvas for a year's wage, 回廊 the cloister a hotel photos from above. The painted walk has become the fire-code hallway, but we still pace it to think, and sometimes to hide.
Why this character belongs on skin
There is a hall in every old temple where the roof does not touch the wall, and the wind moves freely through the space between. Láng is that corridor — sheltered, yet open to the weather, a place made for the in-between. The Confucian walked such halls to think before speaking, knowing wisdom lives in the pause before the room. You, too, are a corridor: not the storm, not the shelter, but the passage the storm moves through on its way to somewhere gentler. To carry this word is to accept the transitional self, the one always becoming and never quite arrived. Lovers pass, seasons pass, and you are the long walk that holds them. Ink it where others might rush, and let it remind you that the way through is also a kind of home.
