The 论语 speaks of 丈夫 (a true man) of integrity and 夫人 (a lady) of standing; 夫妇 (husband and wife) wed in the 周礼 (Rites of Zhou) rites. 农夫 (farmer) turned the 诗经's soil by hand; 大夫 (official, dafu) served the court with counsel. 屠夫 (butcher) appears in 庄子's parables of plain work.
