Cultural Story

Confucius said my way is held together by one line, wu dao yi yi guan zhi, and the many duties hang from that single thread. The character guan is that threading, the guan chuan of a meaning through a whole book. From the master's string it passed to guan che, the policy carried to the end, and to ji guan, the native place a form still asks, the thread of a family's root.

Read the story behind the character

A form asks for ji guan, the ancestral home, and a plan guan che the new rule to every office. The essay stays guan lian from start to finish, and a man is yi guan in his views. The character guan still threads things together, from the family line to the argument's spine.
