慈 is the love that feeds. Meng Jiao's 游子吟 remembers 慈母手中线 — the loving mother's thread in the wanderer's coat — and fixed the word to the mother forever. The heart with 兹, here, is kindness present in the room. It is the warm, giving edge of mercy, not its distant throne.
